The mission of Operation Support our Troops Illinois is to support the morale and well being of America's military, their families and he returning veteran. OSOTIL's programs include the comfort package program which sends over 62 tons of goods to deployed troops each year, Family Resource and Support Team which provides ongoing support for famiies of deployed and grief counseling for Families of the Fallen, and the Veteran Support Program which raises funds for various Veteran Facilities and support orgnaizations. This November OSOTIL will partner with TAPS (Tragedy Assistance for Surviors) and the Illinois National Guard to host the first two-day healing seminar for Illinois' Families of the Fallen. The 1st Cavalry Division Association currently has 26 local or regional chapters in 21 different states and the District of Columbia. It also has 3 unit oriented chapters that are chartered and active. It is a non-political, non-sectarian, non-profit soldiers and veterans fraternity. The Sheridan's Cavalry Chapter was re-chartered in 2003. The Chapter has provided support to deployed Troopers continuously since the First Team deployed in 2004 and remains active between meetings.
