We Do Care
Welcome To We Do Care

August 11 2006 Letter To The Editor

Just one month from now we will reach the 5th year anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks upon our country. Certainly now is a time to pause and reflect.

Now is the time to put political differences aside.  Now is the time to reflect upon and recommit ourselves to the opportunity and promise our founding fathers and prior generations have provided.  Now is the time to support and thank those on the frontline on the global war on terrorism.  Now is the time to look to the future with hope.  And, now is the time to celebrate our freedom, our way of life, and the goodness of America.

And on September 9th we can all come together to do all of this and more.  From noon until 10:00 PM on the second Saturday in September, just two days before the 5th year anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks, We Do Care will hold our third annual festival to celebrate America.  This year’s festival will be held in downtown Barrington in the north commuter lot at the Metra train station.  A great location with plenty of free parking for this one of a kind event.

This family oriented festival is guaranteed to touch both heart and mind.  The day will feature music from local bands, family and children’s activities, food, special guests, and will provide the opportunity to let deployed service men and women know that they are being supported back home.

We hope you and your family will carve out an hour or more to join us for what has been called Illinois’ finest one-day grassroots event.  For up to date information and schedule of events you can visit www.we-do-care.org.

NEW Addition To Our Family Freedom Festival Weekend
Saturday September 6, 2008, We Do Care is hosting Barrington's 1st annual 9.11 Mile Freedom Run.  This runner and walker friendly race will be special in many ways.  In remembrance of the courage, compassion, and triumph of the human spirit, that has come from the 9.11 terrorists attacks, race participants will have the chance to bring these same qualities to our beautiful yet challenging course through Barrington and Barrington Hills countryside.  Unique performance race shirts will allow for personalized messages of support and thanks to our men and women in uniform, veterans, and military families.  All the details will be announced soon...so return here often to learn more and watch for registration information.

Community Symposium
Comming October 2008

An evening exploring the ideals of democracy, freedom, & liberty.  Jacob Needleman, professor of philosophy at San Francisco State University and author of The American Soul, will be the  featured guest.  At the heart of The American Soul is a call to rediscover the timeless truths hidden within the founding vision of the American nation.

Questions to be explored include:
• What is the idea of America?
• What does America mean?
• What are the duties we have that are implied by our rights?
• What was the spiritual core at the founding of our country?
• What is freedom?
• Is democracy more than a model of government?
• What is the common greatness that we are all a part of?
